Retaining wall cost estimator for Los Angeles

Estimate a wall-face construction planning range for concrete, CMU or gravity block in Los Angeles. Keep design, access and other project costs separate.

Strata Los Angeles Retaining Walls manages retaining-wall work within the City of Los Angeles, with construction performed by appropriately licensed and insured contractors. This tool applies the same material ranges published in our local cost guide.

Start with a known wall-face area

What this range means

The calculation multiplies your exposed wall-face area by the selected construction planning band: CMU $50–$120, poured concrete $60–$140, or segmental gravity block $38–$65 per square foot. It does not add a guessed allowance for access, engineering or drainage. Gravity-block pricing does not apply to geogrid-reinforced walls or complex hillside systems.

For a uniform wall, length multiplied by exposed height gives face area. If the height changes, use measured sections rather than assuming one height. Do not approach an unstable wall to measure. An approximate area remains an approximate input.

Keep these scopes separate

  • Engineering, soils investigation and agency charges.
  • Demolition, temporary support and buried foundation conditions.
  • Difficult access, material handling and export.
  • The complete drainage route and its destination.
  • Paving, planting, fences and other restoration.

These items can move the complete budget beyond the displayed band. The tool does not calculate repair, structural stone or drainage-retrofit pricing, and it does not determine whether the selected wall system suits the property. Read wall-system choices and the estimate checklist before comparing a proposal.
